TTL Torluftschleier GmbH

Do you have any questions?

You don't want to add any additional noise sources to your building and still use the climatic advantages of an air curtain system? Our LOW NOISE devices are specially designed for situations where additional noise is to be avoided. The main beneficiaries are banks and hotels, museums and libraries, shops and supermarkets, as well as clinics and residential facilities. LOW NOISE are the quiet feel-good air curtains from TTL.

Noise unconsciously stresses us throughout the day. For this reason, our LOW NOISE devices are particularly quiet and are designed to not increase the noise level in public facilities. Convince yourself of a technology that thinks ahead:

  • minimized noise emission with convincing device performance
  • sound pressure level is 36 to 53 dB(A) (corresponds to a quiet office or sales environment)
  • improved concentration and general sense of wellbeing
  • LOW NOISE devices are available in the TWISTO, AVANTGARDE, VIRADO, ORBIS, TREND and TWINORseries

Installation options

Analysing the building situation

To specify the type selection, analyse your building situation and decide which installation variant makes sense.

Which air curtain is suitable for you always depends on the type of building in which the device is to be installed. The corresponding installation principle is then also decided. Taking stock briefly offers some clarity here.
The following building types are defined:

Building type A
The room has door surfaces only on one side of the building and no connection to upper floors, which creates an internal thermal condition

As a rule, an installation according to the STE standard principles is sufficient.

Building type B
In the building, there are room connections to the top through an open extension over several floors. There are escalators, lifts or permanently open corridors, escape routes and staircases.

For this building type, an installation according to the AWE screening roller principle is recommended.

Building type C
Unprotected door surfaces are opposite or around the corner and cause draughts

In addition, the following points must be taken into account when selecting and installing an air curtain system:

  • Pressure situation in the building
  • Alignment of the door to be protected to the main weather direction
  • Door geometry - door dimensions

All basic conditions must be analysed and evaluated. More powerful units should be deliberately chosen for this situation and mounted according to the installation principle AWE or even better according to TWINtec - counter-current principle.

Once the type of building has been determined, the installation occurs with the appropriate variant:

Installation variants

AWE – Screening roll installation

with air intake above the door and exhaust in the room. Formation of a screening roll whose rotation direction acts against the incoming cold air.

This significantly increases screening performance, reduces the amount of screening air required, the noise level and reduces the zone of increased air movement in the entrance area.

STE – standard installation

with air intake from room direction and air outlet above the door. Formation of an air curtain roller whose rotation direction acts with the incoming cold air.

Resulting in relatively large zone of increased air movement in the door area. A solution for smaller rooms, buildings without negative pressure and situations where no permanent workplaces are assigned in the door area.

Planning principles

Room area

The larger the volume of the room or building, the greater the dynamic pressure on the building. This dynamic pressure causes a negative pressure, which is reduced above the door area, among other things. This means that there is an undesired exchange of air masses at different temperatures.

Exhaust height

The exhaust height is one of the most important criteria when selecting air curtain systems. The lower the unit is mounted above the ground, the smaller the amount of air is required to achieve a sufficient screening effect. In that regard, all architectural and technical possibilities should be taken into consideration. Low air volume means: low heating power, low noise level and low purchase and operating costs.

Room height

The room height in connection with the room area gives a characteristic value for the leakage of the room and thus for the design of the air curtain. This also applies in connection with thermal buoyancy.

A larger room area (room volume) generally results in an increase in leakage caused by doors, windows and leaks in the building. This increases the air exchange at the door. Due to these conditions and as a result of practical experience, the inclusion of the room size to be screened has proven itself for the design of air curtain systems.

Control - regulation

With TTL control units, air curtains can be effectively adjusted and regulated. In combination with modern electronics, the TTL air curtains are seamlessly adjustable. Remote control is possible via a 0-10-volt signal. This means that TTL air curtains can also be integrated into existing GLT and BMS systems in terms of control technology.

With the UBT plus and TWICS plus control units, TTL air curtains can also be controlled efficiently and as required outside of higher-level systems depending on environmental variables. This means that the air curtain constantly adapts to local conditions, even without intervention by staff.

The following controls are available for ORA-LNS air curtains:
TOUCH

Console unit for power control of air curtains according to ambient conditions

SMART module

Module for parallel control of TOUCH functions via mobile phone

TOUCH2-E

Universal controller with automatic programs for electrically heated air curtains

SPACS

Control unit for customer-oriented control or regulating tasks
