Which air curtain is suitable for you always depends on the type of building in which the device is to be installed. The corresponding installation principle is then also decided. Taking stock briefly offers some clarity here. The following building types are defined:
Building type A The room has door surfaces only on one side of the building and no connection to upper floors, which creates an internal thermal condition
As a rule, an installation according to the STE standard principles is sufficient.
Building type B In the building, there are room connections to the top through an open extension over several floors. There are escalators, lifts or permanently open corridors, escape routes and staircases.
For this building type, an installation according to the AWE screening roller principle is recommended.
Building type C Unprotected door surfaces are opposite or around the corner and cause draughts

This double air curtain combines the advantages of the STE and AWE installation principles in the TWINtec counter-flow principle. It functions by means of two fan units, which generate two screening rollers rotating counter to each other at different temperatures. The inner, heated shielding roller (AWE) screens with the advantages of the AWE principle; The outer, unheated air roller in the STE principle ensures a stable screening in the outer door area and separates the warm air curtain from the outside air. Energy loss is minimized thereby.
Preferred application area: optimal screening performance under all pressure conditions, suitable for types A, B and C.
The larger the volume of the room or building, the greater the dynamic pressure on the building. This dynamic pressure causes a negative pressure, which is reduced above the door area, among other things. This means that there is an undesired exchange of air masses at different temperatures.
The exhaust height is one of the most important criteria when selecting air curtain systems. The lower the unit is mounted above the ground, the smaller the amount of air is required to achieve a sufficient screening effect. In that regard, all architectural and technical possibilities should be taken into consideration. Low air volume means: low heating power, low noise level and low purchase and operating costs.
The room height in connection with the room area gives a characteristic value for the leakage of the room and thus for the design of the air curtain. This also applies in connection with thermal buoyancy.
A larger room area (room volume) generally results in an increase in leakage caused by doors, windows and leaks in the building. This increases the air exchange at the door. Due to these conditions and as a result of practical experience, the inclusion of the room size to be screened has proven itself for the design of air curtain systems.
With TTL control units, air curtains can be effectively adjusted and regulated. In combination with modern electronics, the TTL air curtains are seamlessly adjustable. Remote control is possible via a 0-10-volt signal. This means that TTL air curtains can also be integrated into existing GLT and BMS systems in terms of control technology.
With the UBT plus and TWICS plus control units, TTL air curtains can also be controlled efficiently and as required outside of higher-level systems depending on environmental variables. This means that the air curtain constantly adapts to local conditions, even without intervention by staff.
